sentimental saturday -bus art

Just a quick pop by to show you what I posted on this day 2 years ago.
Inspired by the bus destination blind copies that were around I made one to go in my little toilet room - sometimes known as the bus toilet because of it's size.

To check out the original post with the how to, click on the picture.

Have a great weekend!

sentimental saturday- dining room

This is a quick Sentimental Saturday post with a few links.

Looking back two years ago today this is what I posted about:
It was a very exciting day for our family.
Two years on it has bought many happy memories and lots of fun for us and our friends.
I won't post a photo, you will have to pop over to the old post to see the mystery item.

I also found this in the archives, from around the same time.

a gorgeous little post about decorating my washstand in the dining room.

Here it is today:

I picked up the round tray op shopping the other day and I bought these daffodils today, hoping they will last until Thursday, as I need them for something I am doing.

and while I am here I will show you this picture of a mirror that I bought the other day for $10.
I put it on the old sewing machine that lives in here and put the cake stand with candles in front of it.

and I couldn't resist taking a photo with the candles lit and the reflection.

sentimental saturday outdoor room

I created this outdoor space two years ago.

as usual click on the photo to go to the original post

It has been featured in a few Houzz ideas books.
Including one today, that I discovered when I went over to get some links:
Here is my houzz page
Even though it has been cold this week- well in the mornings anyway with several frosts there is still a feeling of spring in the air- time to think about getting out and doing some garden projects.

Some of my herbs have succumbed to frost and we have had quite a bandicoot problem of late and they seem to spend a bit of time digging holes around this area.
B4 levelled it out and planted some rye grass seed in here a few weeks ago.
So as the weather warms a little I will definitely be out here freshening it up and doing some gardening.

sentimental saturday- tv cabinet

Hitting the bloggy archives again to do a Sentimental Saturday post
This one is from three years ago on this day when I revealed our TV cabinet.

Click on the photo above to go to the original post.

Just to keep it real- this is what it looked like today when I snapped these photos.
This shows the TV, DVD player and VCH's new sound system and the DVD's.
He is talking about redoing the cupboard so that he can house a new bigger TV.
This of course would involve pulling out the wall and reconfiguring the whole inside- one day- maybe!

Playstation and games.
No foofing here either!

sentimental saturdays- fabric buckets

Today I took a look back in the archives and found something from right at the beginning of my blog.
Three years ago today this is what I posted about.

click on the photo to go the original post

I remember being very excited about these fabric buckets that I made,
they are still going strong three years later!

They live on a shelf in our lounge room and have the blocks, musical instruments and bean bags in them.
I really should make some more because they are so durable and handy!

Are you enjoying my trips down memory lane?

I will be back on Monday with photos of the cake and the 101st birthday party!

sentimental saturday- in the kitchen

It is a rainy day here today, I have some sort of virus so am not feeling the best, but it is a perfect day for a bit of cooking, so I thought I might share with you a few recipes from in the archives.
These were all written before we were gluten free so I will  add some gluten free alternative suggestions.

Click on the photos for the links to the original post.

 Roasted pumpkin soup
For the scones substitute gluten free flour or make chebe bread instead

Coriander (cilantro) and Macadamia Nut Pesto
Use gluten free spaghetti

Apple Pie
I have found it is easy to adapt to gluten free just by substituting in gluten free flour in the pastry.

I just realised that you have a complete three course meal.
Entree, main and dessert.
Enjoy!

sentimental saturday six

Sentimental Saturday where I share a post from earlier in my blog life.

This week I thought I would share a post from last Easter.

We do pretty much the same things each year, very much into creating family traditions.
I will probably do a similar roundup next week or when my pictures will upload again, at least it is easy to obtain old pictures from Picasso.
Don't forget to click on the photo to read the post.
Hope you are enjoying your Easter Celebrations.

This will be the last Sentimental Saturday for a while- too much of a good thing and all that!

sentimental saturday five

This week I thought I would do a post about sewing or rather where I sew.
The first post is about my sewing area, notice the poor quality picture - that was my old camera.
The second shows my sewing cupboard when it was looking good.
The third is when I finally got around to painting my letters- its thrown in with a few other things for good measure.
I haven't been sewing much lately, but maybe I can get back into it a bit as the weather cools and we turn to more indoor pursuits.

Hope you are having a great weekend, will report on my trip next week!

sentimental saturday four

Sentimental Saturday where I share a post from earlier in my blog life.

This week I thought I would share with you another of VCH projects.

He made me two of these many years ago from old fence palings.

You can also find a post about me jazzing the area up last spring

Click on the photos for the links to the original posts.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

sentimental saturday three

This is our dining table set for Christmas Eve.
To read about how our dining table came to be click on the photo it will transfer you back in blog time and you will find out some more about the true genius of VCH in the recycling department- although I am a touch biased!

But here is a dilemma for you, I am thinking of painting it white- well the top anyway, probably more of a white wash or a distressed look.
Our dining room is a little dark as it has no window of its own just light from the lounge room on one side and the kitchen on the other as well as a skylight.
I am thinking the white would make the room look lighter and I am in love with all things white- well actually I have always loved white but it is only now that I have felt free to embrace my love.
So what do you think?

PS what do you think of the new look blog??? or should I change it back???

sentimental saturday two

Sentimental Saturday where I share a post from earlier in my blog life.

This week I thought I would share with you my picture book shelves that VCH made me.
Since we made these I have seen the rain gutter shelves and I think if I did them again I would go with the rain gutters, simply because you can fit more books on.

To see the original post click on the photo.
