mystery project part one

This is part one of the project I hinted at in my last post.

On Saturday morning before cricket, VCH with the help of B1 and B2 installed this window to enclose the front veranda.
We very rarely use it since we did our extension and built the veranda off the kitchen 4 years ago, it has really been an underutalised space.
While I am not usually a huge fan of enclosing verandas, it has been a way of making more space available in a small house with 8 people.

On Sunday they installed the sliding glass door.
I wanted to make it more like a screened in porch, so that down the track if we ever sell our house we can market it as a sitting area / sunroom.
As The Girl's bedroom window is also here I didn't want to restrict any light from entering her room.

Looking out from the new room.

 Installing the floor.

This is how it looks now the floor is finished.

Here you can see The Girl's bedroom window.

Stay tuned for part two where I reveal the next part of this transformation.

Any guesses on what this space may become?

  1. Hi Deanne, after looking at your inspiration board I can take a good guess at what the room will be.
I love the flooring are they boards or is it vynal? I would really like something like this in my kitchen..

  3. Hi Nell, the floor is a wood laminate floor, that you cut to length and just click it together, it only took them an hour or so to do this floor. It is the same stuff we used in the boys bungalow, but this one is called whiskey barrel, we just bought it at Bunnings.

  4. What a great new room! It would make a wonderful art/craft room with all that light. Some spice angels could be made in there to hang near the outside windows of the room and give it a lovely aroma...at least until the 'new smell' is gone :).
    Cheers,
