In the last couple of years I have had a bit of an obsession with winter boots.
Well really you could say that I have had the obsession since I was a child.
I loved dressing up in my big sisters boots black knee highs with silver lacy things- very late 60's early 70's.
When I was in year 5 or 6 at school I wanted some brown boots, my parents agreed that I could have them but I had to buy them myself - so I saved my $1 pocket money every week and did extra jobs to buy my boots, then in high school cowboy boots were in, with the heel and the stitching, again I had to buy my own- I don't think these lasted too long as they were a bit fadish.
Later when I was at college white boots were the go, I bought a pair and wore them everywhere.
Then boots seemed to go out of fashion for many years.
When my big boys were young, work boots were the go, but there was no way chunky work boots would look any good on my little feet so I went to see VCH at his work and bought a pair of Blundstone riding boots.
Great with jeans and great for those bonfire nights, mine look like could use some Dubbin, if I knew where the stuff was I would polish them up.
Then about 5 years ago I bought a pair of flat brown boots, great with longer skirts,
then I needed a pair of black boots, then another pair of brown boots this time with a bit of a heel for dressier occasions and then a pair of flat blacks were a must have last season, then there was the trip away with the girls and some cute ruffly sort of boots caught my eye in K-mart they had tan- not me, grey and black, which should I choose???
hang it they are only $15 I will buy both.
So now I have quite a little collection of boots, in winter I get them out and put them on my shoe drawers and to keep them standing up I stuff them with some summer home t-shirts.
I have been making the most of them, wearing them with a dress or a skirt or stuffed into jeans or under jeans depending on the boot.
We only have a short winter here in Oz so I am making the most of every boot wearing opportunity that I can!
I have seen some other great boots that I would love to add to my collection but so far I have managed to resist the temptation!
I love boots too. I currently have three pairs, but I also own blundstones and gumboots, does that count. You can't have too many boots I say. LOVE them!! Leahx
ReplyDeleteI've never seen so many boots, I have a favourite pair that I bought from Target for $15. Black, fur inside and fur trim with a plastic heel. I bought them one size too big so I can wear thick socks with them and I wear them nearly every day in winter. Not very trendy but oh so comfy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
That's an amazing collection of boots! I love boots too: they are versatile, comfortable and elegant. And... there's something to boots, I think. An aura of adventure, of times gone by, of pulling yourself into the saddle and riding off into the sunset. I like that :)
