Do you remember this case that I picked up a while ago at a garage sale?
Instead of going garage-saling this weekend, I pottered, decluttered, made lists of jobs, fed the hungry workers and finished this little metal case.
I love how it turned out!
Here's the how to:
First I lightly sanded it and then sprayed the inside with black chalkboard paint.
After several coats I painted the front lid with some chalkboard paint.
I covered the handle with bubble wrap, just because I had some laying around and I put some blu-tack on the other bits because they were sort of awkward shapes
before spraying the rest of the case white.
I played around with some combinations of letters but ended up settling on a very simple abc
Oops started painted before I took the photo, these are just some chipboard letters from my stash- they are now white!
I just went around them with a black marker to give more definition
and here's what's inside:
some magnetic letters and chalk
Just right for my learner readers to practice sounding out and writing.
I can't wait until they get to "play" with it!

ReplyDeleteThat's such a cute reuse, Deanne. I especially like the chalkboard paint on the inside. I mean, what kid doesn't like drawing on things. Just perfect!
