cool soda stools

I just realised that I haven't shared these stools with you yet.

The original stools I picked up at a garage sale,
with the intention of transforming them for our entertaining area.
However, VCH and I found some other stools that we liked better and these became destined for "redeemed".
Even though I knew I would be selling these I kept to my original idea on how I wanted them transformed.

I found some original vintage soft drink labels on eBay for the iconic soft drink factory from our home town.
Growing up this was the main soft drink available in all the shops.
These labels are however a little bit older than that.
Note the phone number is 65- imagine a 2 digit phone number!

VCH made me four new wooden tops for the stools,
I distressed them, stained them, sanded them back, added some black paint in parts, sanded them again,

Then added an enlarged scanned copy of the label and glued it on.
I originally wanted to use decals but because they are clear they wouldn't work.
I have now sourced and ordered some white decal paper, so this shouldn't be a problem should I do something similar again!

A few coats of gloss later they looked like this.

Here is the set together.

The legs were sanded and painted with ironstone
(I had originally purchased the spray paint to match our house colours)
Then I added new rubber feet to complete them.

I listed these on gumtree and a lady from Nth Qld wants them but we are having problems sourcing a courier that doesn't cost a small fortune.
But if it doesn't work out I am not too worried as I have someone local who may be interested.

Come party here every Thursday!

  5. Those are really cool Deanne! I'm sure even if it doesn't work out with this buyer, you'll easily be able to find someone who has the same fond memories of drinking these sodas who will want them. Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a great week!

  8. I love them - the labels look fantastic on the seats!

Funny you should mention couriers, as I've been trying to sort out the same thing! I have no idea how people do it, everything I look at is hugely expensive too. I'd love to hear if you sort something out, and I'll share too!
