delightful discovery

See that little tree, the one next to the sad looking grevillia
It was here when we bought this house 12 years ago.
We thought it was a Jacaranda,
but over the years it hardly grew and never flowered,
so we came to the conclusion that it must have been something else.

Until I was driving out the driveway the other day and noticed this.
The trunk was broken off in a storm last year and we tried to pull it out and couldn't so left it there.
For whatever reason one of the new shoots decided to flower.

So there we have it, a beautiful Jacaranda actually growing in our yard.

A truly delightful discovery!

  1. Wonderful. And in a place where there is room for it to grow, unlike the self-seeded one we had in our town yard.

    1. Yes it has plenty of room but I think the other trees may have been crowding it which is why it has never grown well, I think the grevillia beside it needs to go, so maybe then it will have more sunshine and will grow better.
