Here is a little project I have been working on that has come up rather well
-well in my opinion anyway and that's all that really matters right?
Remember these that I picked up for $1 each at a garage sale.
Now they look like this:
I saw something similar that someone did on a blog- my apologies, I have searched through all the places where I thought I might have seen it and I can't find the blog, but if you are that person or know where I saw it can you please send the the link so I can properly acknowledge them.
The L represents our surname
and the 8 is the number of people in our family.
To make them I simply sanded the tables first and then applied several layers of flat white paint - I used ceiling paint because that's what I had.
Then I started to sand around the edges and top to get a distressed look.
I printed a large L and 8 from my computer onto thin card and then cut it out with a knife on a self healing mat.
I glued it to the top with bostik glue because I ran out of spray adhesive and need to buy some more.
Then I painted the stencil with a flat black paint.
When dry I sanded the letters as well to give that worn look and then sprayed clear varnish over a few times to seal it and give a slight shine.
I have placed them at the side of my daybed on the veranda at the moment, but I know they will move frequently to any spot to hold drinks, books and the like.
What a FUN idea! They are darling!!! Thanks SO much for joining in on Thrilling Thursdays @ Paisley Passions. I love to see the creative talent of other fellow bloggers. Hope you will stop by again soon :)

Hi Deanne! What a neat project! Very clever and so adorable! Love the L and 8 idea, too. They look great by your sofa! Happy WW to you!

Great job. I love that you personalized them with the L & 8. I'm about to have my sixth as well. Now I need to find something I can personalize with a D & 8. Thanks for the inspiration.
