playing possum

 

 The other day B4 noticed something in one of the callistamen trees- at first he thought it was Jazzy, our cat, but when he looked closer he found that it was a possum.

This is the first possum we have seen on our land in the 10 years we have lived here.

The only other one I have seen was a very large brushtail dead on the road out the front of our house, one night many years ago- it was gone by morning, something took it home for dinner!

However, it didn't take too kindly to being stared at by lots of kids, so it hotfooted it next door and climbed up a banksia tree away from staring people and barking dogs.
