kitchen art update

Back in 2010 I upcycled some of my mother's cutlery into some Kitchen Art.

It was one of my most popular posts and was featured in a few spots.
On my stats it comes in third behind my spice angel tutorial and my vintage sewing room.

Two years later the two smaller ones had been moved from the wall in the kitchen to the dining room when I put up my clock and they weren't looking so fresh anymore.
READ: they were in reach of some grubby little hands and someone had even pulled off a spoon or two!
So I thought they could do with a freshen up.
After removing the remaining spoons from the frames out came the foil, bi-carb soda and boiling water and I gave them a good clean.
Then onto the background.
My first idea was to get some aqua scrapbook paper and use that as a background.
However, my search at the local shops for something suitable proved unfruitful.
So I came home and shopped the house - some aqua fabric didn't look right,
music sheets were getting better but still not quite right.
Then I remembered that I had some old newspapers that someone had given me.
I went through them looking for something that would be suitable.
I came across some ads for commonwealth disposal auctions in a Daily Telegraph from 1947!
They were perfect!

So I cut them out then spray glued the backing board and the back of the newspaper and stuck them together.
Then all I needed to do was to hot glue the spoons back on.

Voila- a whole new look!
What do you think?
Now I am wondering if I should do the other ones as well?
