We have been super busy, so this is just a quick update.
VCH and I went for the big IKEA trip on Saturday, we left home at 6am and arrived back at 5:30pm.
Approximately 7 hrs of that was in travel.
When we got home we set about putting all our goodies together.
Putting our new EKTORP lounge together was fun.
We bought extra covers for the 2 lounges so we can wash them regularly, we have also put vintage white sheets over the seats and back of the seat for a little bit of extra protection from 6 grubby kids.
I am now deciding about new cushions, I can't find what I want, but they are so comfy you really don't need any.
We bought this EXPEDIT shelf to house our little peoples school stuff.
This is how it is looking ready for lessons to start back next week.
These are GORM baskets which I had planned to use on B3 and B4's new desks only they don't fit, but they are perfect here for card games etc.
I have moved the alphabet stuff to here on our fire place seeing as we won't be using it for some months and its right next to the little people's stuff.
The metal chimney is perfect for the magnetic letters.
The phonics chart and my comfy read aloud chair ($5 op shop find)
In the meantime I am repainting our built in bookcase and decluttering books as I go a section at a time.
It looked pretty nasty after I painted all the walls in the reading room white having been painted nearly 10 years ago when we first built it.
VCH and the boys are spending the Australia Day holiday building my pool cabana- well the frame anyway.
I love Ikea too! I spent four hours there on Saturday. ::Jill
ReplyDeleteIkea is like Christmas everyday! Love it. I've never been to your blog. I am a retired Home Educator to four children. It's a wonderful family life.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Lisa referred us to you! My daughetr and I enjoyed looking through your posts. Except, we're a little jealous that you're all in shorts while we're sitting here freezing to death!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a load of fun! Love all of it!

Wow, that is one nice hubby to spend 7 hours in a car just to go to Ikea, wow. My hubby would not do that. He would say it was not worth it. (I would disagree!) Looks like you all are going to have a fun summer with the pool and new cabana!! Wish it was summer here, tonight it is 30 degrees (farenheit) and we are expecting snow by the end of the week. I hate snow! I am dreaming of spring, had to buy some tulips today so I could remind myself spring is almost here! Enjoy your new finds!!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from A beach Cottage, your photos of the Ektorp sofa construction made me LOL. This last weekend we put 4 of them together, two for the main floor in white and 2 in the man cave in brown. The hardest part is putting the seat cushions into the covers LOL. I got the extra cushions at Ikea...the white soft ones with the stylised flowers....love them :-)
ReplyDeleteLove ikea. I got my ektorp back in the day when they came put together! lol. visiting from BC. love your new aquisitions!

Well, good for you, Deanne. You must feel so much more organised now. I'd love to buy our pixies an Expedit bookcase but we're still waiting for Ikea in Hobart. Sigh. I'll just have to enjoy looking at yours ☺. J x
